Creating a WebCD: Retrieval

Retrieval is the action of obtaining items from the Web or local hard drive that will make up your WebCD. Specify items you wish to retrieve using the itemÆs Uniform Resource Locator (URL). The URL is a unique identifier used to address Internet resources on the World Wide Web or files on your local hard drive or network. For example, http://www.marketscape.com/products/webcd.htm specifies a file called webcd.htm on MarketScapeÆs Web site.

Use the New Project Wizard or the Add URL function to specify URLs that you wish to retrieve. Use the Start Retrieval function to begin retrieving the specified URLs.

After retrieving, the Retrieval View displays this information in a hierarchical display similar to Windows Explorer. You can add new items for retrieval, remove items from the retrieval specification or change an itemÆs retrieval properties. You can also retrieve individual files or folders to include on your WebCD.
